Year: 2011 Language: english Author: British Petroleum Shipping Publisher: BP Shipping SHME Team Edition: July Format: PDF Quality: eBook Pages count: 45 Description: This Risk Assessment provides: i) an overview of LNG STS transfers operations and compares these with operations and equipment at conventional LNG terminals ii) identifies the hazards associated with commercial LNG Ship to Ship (STS) bulk cargo transfer activities iii) assesses the risks, evaluates the risk barriers and, where appropriate, makes recommendations to strengthen existing barriers or provide additional barriers to reduce the risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). The risks assessment addresses LNG STS operations conducted using flexible hoses, floating fenders and ship to ship mooring arrangements and includes both double banked and open water transfers. The assessment is restricted to LNG Transfer equipment that is currently available, compliant with ISO EN1474 Part II and that has been tested in the field in a range of LNG STS applications. This does not preclude the use of alternative equipment and innovative systems that comply with the standard but such equipment should be subject to a separate risk assessment. This is a generic study relating to the STS LNG transfer operation under the following scenarios: • A LNG Carrier double banked to a regasification vessel with the LNG being transferred through a hose system • One vessel at anchor with the other moored alongside and the LNG transferred through a hose system at an open water location. • Both vessels underway and moored together in open water with the LNG transferred through a hose system.

This is a generic study relating to the STS LNG transfer operation under the following scenarios:
• A LNG Carrier double banked to a regasification vessel with the LNG being transferred through a hose system
• One vessel at anchor with the other moored alongside and the LNG transferred through a hose system at an open water location.
• Both vessels underway and moored together in open water with the LNG transferred through a hose system.
